Report: Real Madrid legend Raul in contention to replace Santiago Solari

Iconic striker Raul may reportedly be promoted to the position of Real Madrid's first-team manager as Florentino Perez has lost patience with Santiago Solari.

Real Madrid chiefs will consider turning to club legend Raul as a replacement for struggling manager Santiago Solari, according to a report.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is believed to be ready to terminate the contract signed by Solari just four months ago following a poor run of results.

Three defeats in their last four matches, including back-to-back defeats to Barcelona in league and cup, has completely derailed Real's domestic campaign.

It has been suggested that even winning the Champions League will no longer be enough to save Solari's job, with Perez already beginning the process of bringing in a replacement.

Spanish news outlet Sport indicates that Mauricio Pochettino, Joachim Low and Massimiliano Allegri are all on Madrid's shortlist of options, but Raul may be an outside contender.

All three of those aforementioned names are under long-term contracts, whereas Raul is in charge of Real's youth team and can easily be promoted at the end of the campaign with minimal fuss.
