League Two roundup: Rochdale take top spot

Rochdale climb to the top of the League Two table thanks to a 3-2 comeback win against Northampton Town.

Rochdale mounted a superb comeback to beat Northampton Town 3-2 in League Two this evening, allowing John Coleman's men to climb to the top of the table.

Rochdale were 2-1 down going into the game's last five minutes but were able to turn it around thanks to late goals from Michael Rose and George Donnelly.

The result meant that Chesterfield also needed to win to keep top spot, but they were thwarted in a 2-2 draw by a resistant York City side that led going into the last 20 minutes of the match.

Oxford United continued to show good defensive form, but they were unable to get past a spirited Exeter City defence who looked to maintain their third spot in the league.

Elsewhere the night's extreme weather caused problems at Fratton Park, where Portsmouth's clash with Wycombe Wanderers had to be abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch. Earlier in the match Wanderers youngster Billy Knott crashed home a stunning strike, before Patrick Agyemang levelled for the hosts just before the break.

Down at the bottom of the table Accrington Stanley pulled off an important 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers, while Torquay United were condemned to another defeat, this time at the hands of Burton Albion who clinched a comfortable 2-0 win.
