Report: Former Blackburn Rovers boss Owen Coyle favourite for Ross County job

Former Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle is set to be named as the new manager of Scottish Premiership strugglers Ross County, according to reports.

Owen Coyle has held talks with Ross County about becoming their new manager, according to reports.

The Dingwall side sit third bottom of the Scottish Premiership after seven games, just one point above Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock.

County's managerial position is currently vacant following the departure of Jim McIntyre on Monday after three years in charge.

Coyle has spent seven months without a job since he was sacked by Blackburn Rovers in February earlier this year after less than nine months in charge at Ewood Park.

According to the Daily Record, the former Republic of Ireland striker has held positive talks with chairman Roy MacGregor over the past 24 hours and is now the preferred candidate to become McIntyre's successor.

Before his spell at Blackburn, Coyle managed Houston Dynamo in the MLS and has also spent time at Burnley, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.
