Steve Evans frustrated by Rotherham United defeat

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans admits his frustration after seeing his side beaten at home by fellow Championship strugglers Wigan.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has expressed his frustration following his side's 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

The Millers were beaten by their fellow strugglers at the New York Stadium on Saturday as two first-half goals from Jermaine Pennant made the difference.

Despite piling the pressure on Wigan during the second half, Evans admits that Rotherham did not have the necessary firepower to get themselves level.

"They have had two efforts on goal; you can say two wonderful free kicks," he told the club's official website. "We have laid siege to their goal in the second half but we couldn't get the equaliser, the keeper has made two wonderful saves so we are disappointed obviously.

"I thought that in the first half we were a little average if I can use that expression but I think second half we were fantastic; we put them to the sword but couldn't find a way to get the second goal."

Rotherham are back in action on Wednesday when they make the trip to Nottingham Forest.
