Harry Redknapp backs Tim Sherwood for Tottenham Hotspur job

Harry Redknapp believes that Tim Sherwood should be offered the Tottenham Hotspur job on a permanent basis.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he hopes his old side Tottenham Hotspur offer caretaker manager Tim Sherwood the chance to prove himself on a permanent basis.

Reknapp questioned whether Spurs were right to change manager again, but said that Sherwood would prove to be a success if he is given the job.

"Tottenham do change managers an awful lot," BBC Sport quotes Redknapp as saying. "I am pleased to see Tim Sherwood having a crack of it. Let's hope that Tim can get the job. He has a great knowledge of football, knows the game.

"I saw him work with the Under-21 team. He has been instrumental with people like SCaulker and Andros Townsend coming through. I'd love to see him get the job.

"Owners think it is about names but it is not. Maybe we should give Sherwood a foreign name or a more sexy name and he might get the job, I hope he picks up a few results and gets the job."

Redknapp was in charge of Spurs between 2008 and 2012.
