Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly open talks with Son Heung-min over a lucrative new six-year contract which would see him earn around £200,000 per week.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to open talks with Son Heung-min over a lucrative new six-year deal which would see him become one of the club's highest earners.

The 28-year-old has been in prolific form so far this season, scoring 10 goals and creating five more in 13 appearances across all competitions.

Son sits joint-top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with eight goals in as many outings, and The Guardian reports that he is now set to be rewarded with a new long-term contract including a substantial pay rise.

The South Korean forward's current deal, worth a reported £140,000 per week, does not expire until 2023, but the Tottenham board are eager to stave off any interest from around Europe by offering him much-improved terms.

Spurs will reportedly offer Son a contract until either 2025 or 2026 worth around £200,000 a week, putting him next to Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele as the club's highest earners.

Son has now scored 95 goals and created 52 more in 242 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions.
