Mark Hughes: 'We showed great character'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has praised his side's character after a late equaliser against West Ham United in the Premier League.

Mark Hughes has praised Stoke City's character after their last-gasp draw away to West Ham United in the Premier League.

Aaron Cresswell had appeared to give the Hammers all three points after his first-half strike, but Marko Arnautovic's 95th-minute equaliser meant that the spoils were shared.

Hughes believes that his side failed in the final third on occasions but did just enough to warrant the point.

Talking to BBC Sport after the match, he said: "For us it was one of those days, we conceded to a great free kick but we kept going and showed great character.

"We could not quite find the final ball, but credit to the lads because they stuck at it and deserved to get something. They were the better team, so we got some reward but probably not what they should have had."

The draw leaves both sides locked on 43 points in ninth and 10th respectively, with West Ham ahead on goal difference.
