Liverpool are without a permanent manager after they decided to part ways with Matt Beard at the end of February, bringing an end to his second spell in charge of the Merseyside club.

Amber Whiteley has since made a promising start to her tenure as interim boss, having overseen consecutive 1-0 away wins over Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Jasmine Matthews' 10th-minute effort proved enough to edge out the Eagles, before a Daphne van Domselaar own goal helped the Reds see off the Gunners in Sunday's Women's FA Cup quarter-final.

Liverpool can now look forward to a semi-final clash against Chelsea on April 13, but before then they will focus on two tricky league meetings with Man United and Arsenal.

The Reds have won their last two home league games against Brighton and West Ham United, while they also took maximum points from their last home clash with Man United in May 2024 when they clinched a narrow 1-0 victory.

Man United are currently eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea, although they have the chance to reduce that gap in Friday's game in hand.

The Red Devils will carry momentum into their upcoming fixture after winning each of their last six competitive outings, including a 3-1 victory in Saturday's Women's FA Cup quarter-final against second-tier Sunderland.

Leah Galton, Maya Le Tissier and Ella Toone all found the scoresheet to guide Man United to a comfortable victory, setting up a semi-final clash against local rivals Man City.

Marc Skinner's side are now preparing to face Liverpool for the third time this season, having already recorded two home wins against the Reds in 2024-25, recording a 2-0 victory in the Women's League Cup and a 4-0 win in December's WSL clash.

They may fancy their chances of recording another shutout on Friday after claiming 10 clean sheets in 15 league games this season - more than any other team in the WSL.

Team News

Manchester United Women's Elisabeth Terland on December 8, 2024© Imago

Liverpool remain without the services of long-term absentee Sofie Lundgaard, while Hannah Silcock and Niamh Fahey are not quite ready to return to action.

Republic of Ireland international Leanne Kiernan is also a doubt after missing the last two matches due to an injury issue.

Eyeing a third consecutive win, Whitely may opt for consistency by naming the same side that started the cup win over Arsenal.

As for Man United, there are doubts surrounding the availability of Elisabeth Terland, Jayde Riviere and Simi Awujo.

Midfielder Dominique Janssen is pushing for a recall after dropping down to the bench for Saturday's successful FA Cup outing against Sunderland.

Galton will be hoping to continue her recent goalscoring form after finding he net in three of the last four competitive matches.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:

We say: Liverpool Women 0-2 Manchester United Women

Man United have proven to be defensively resilient in the WSL this term, and we think their strong backline will provide the foundation for them to claim all three points against a Liverpool side that have already beaten on two occasions this season.
