Tranmere Rovers have signed former Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner on a one-year contract.
The Scot, who spent eight years at Goodison Park, will move to Prenton Park as cover for first-choice shot-stopper Scott Davies as the Wirral club look to bounce back into the Football League.
Rovers manager Gary Brabin told the club's official website: "I'm really pleased to bring Iain to the club. He's a local lad who has really good experience at a higher level.
"He's coming in as cover for Scott Davies, who is our number one. But, at the same time, we know he'll be ready if and when he is called upon. And it will give us the opportunity to loan the two young goalkeepers, Sam Ramsbottom and Luke Pilling, to aid their development by playing games."
Tranmere were relegated from League Two last season, ending a 94-year stay in the Football League.
