Sam Ricketts: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers away support is brilliant'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Sam Ricketts pays tribute to the club's away support, with nearly 9,000 fans expected to make the trip to MK Dons on Saturday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Sam Ricketts has admitted that he is relishing the atmosphere that the club's supporters will create when they make the trip to MK Dons on Saturday.

The League One leaders have sold nearly 9,000 tickets as they attempt to move closer to promotion with a win in Milton Keynes, and Ricketts has revealed that the supporters have made each away game this season "feel like a cup final".

The 32-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "For us, it is brilliant to go away from home and have a following like that.

"It makes for a really good atmosphere in the game. We know that we've got that support and the fans can take us through certain sections of the match if need be with the singing and the atmosphere that they bring.

"It makes for a great day and tomorrow will probably lift the home players and fans as well in terms of being their biggest crowd of the season. We have had to cope with that a lot this season and our fantastic following makes every game that we go to feel like a cup final."

Wolves are four points clear at the top of the League One standings.
