Kenny Jackett 'concerned' by Wolverhampton Wanderers situation

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett admits that he has "concern" over the lack of transfer activity at the club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has admitted "concern" over the transfer situation at the club as a proposed takeover edges nearer.

All transfer activity has been suspended while a takeover deal by Chinese billionaire Robin Li is completed, leaving Jackett unable to strengthen his squad with just three and a half weeks remaining until the Championship season gets underway.

"Of course it's a concern. You need to be ready," he told the Express & Star. "Every few days things get closer to the start of the season.

"There are very few sides that have a poor August and September and then turn it around. In all of the leagues the only side that did it last year was Barnsley. You have a chance late May but you can be working during that period and hopefully planning early.

"Squad planning in the summer is vital and everybody at Wolves is aware of that. The key people are the ones selling the club and the ones buying it. They'll be as aware as anybody of that situation."

Rumours have indicated that Li's first act as Wolves owner will be to replace Jackett with respected former Porto boss Julen Lopetegui.
