League Two roundup: Gillingham, Vale win easily

Sports Mole rounds up the day's League Two action, including comfortable wins for title rivals Gillingham and Port Vale.

Gillingham and Port Vale strengthened their positions in League Two's automatic promotion places this afternoon.

Leaders Gillingham won 2-0 at Bristol Rovers, courtesy of strikes from Chris Whelpdale and Deon Burton.

Meanwhile, Tom Pope netted his 24th and 25th goals of season as Vale ran out 4-0 winners over Plymouth Argyle, who had Nick Chadwick sent off in the first half at Vale Park.

Fellow title hopefuls Cheltenham Town and Rotherham United were not in league action due to their respective FA Cup commitments.

At the bottom of the table, AFC Wimbledon climbed out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win at Rochdale.

Barnet also upset the form book by beating Bradford City 2-0 at Underhill.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Northampton Town, Exeter City and Wycombe Wanderers.
