Fran Halsall sixth in 50 butterfly final

British swimmer Fran Halsall finishes sixth in the final of the 50m butterfly at the World Swimming Championships in Russia.

Great Britain's Fran Halsall has finished sixth in the final of the women's 50m butterfly at the World Swimming Championships at Kazan.

The Commonwealth champion was the third fastest in the semi-finals, but was unable to up her pace for this afternoon's final.

Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom claimed the gold, swimming the distance in a championship record time of 24.96s, adding to the title that the 21-year-old won in the 100m butterfly earlier this week.

Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen finished second, while Lu Ying of China secured the final spot on the podium, while also breaking the Asian record.
