Feliciano Lopez has caused a shock at the Cincinnati Masters by coming from behind to beat Rafael Nadal 5-7 6-4 7-6 to reach the quarter-finals.
Nadal, who won the tournament in 2013, looked on course to ease into a first-set lead after breaking Lopez in the eighth game to move 5-3 ahead.
Lopez broke straight back, before holding his serve to level up the set, but Nadal pulled away again and inflicted a timely break in the 12th game to draw first blood.
The underdog - ranked 15 places below eighth-placed Nadal in the world - inflicted a break of serve to move 2-1 ahead in the second set.
The next seven games went with serve as that early break proved enough for Lopez to level up the match at one set apiece.
Neither player was willing to offer up an opportunity in the third set as the two Spaniards put on a serving masterclass for the Ohio crowd, with 12 games passing by without a break point.
The deciding tie-break started with two mini-breaks, before Lopez clinched the advantage for the second time. Nadal's hopes of a fourth title in 2015 were quickly dashed as Lopez held his nerve at the key moment before winning another rally against the serve to claim a memorable win.
