Novak Djokovic has remained on course for a first Roland Garros title with a four-set victory over Roberto Bautista Agut.
The world number one struggled during the opening stages of a match that began in light drizzle on Tuesday but he eventually adapted to the cooler conditions in Paris to secure a 3-6 6-4 6-1 7-5 win to move through to the last eight.
Djokovic is eager to claim the one major title missing from his trophy cabinet and early on Tuesday, it appeared that he may be forced to wait another 12 months for a chance to claim the French Open crown.
However, the rain delay allowed him to regroup and after restarting the contest on Wednesday with a 4-1 lead in the third, he soon wrapped up the set to move closer to a place in the quarter-finals.
Bautista Agut went a break up late in the fourth set but Djokovic hit back to reel off three games in a row to set up a meeting with either David Ferrer or Tomas Berdych.
