Team GB figure skater Nicholas Buckland: 'We gave our all out there'

Nicholas Buckland says that he and partner Penny Coomes "left nothing" out on the ice during the figure skating free dance programme at Sochi 2014.

Nicholas Buckland has stated that he and Great Britain teammate Penny Coomes gave everything they had during the figure skating free dance programme this evening.

The British duo secured a top 10 finish, while American pair Meryl Davis and Charlie White won the gold medal.

Placing 10th was a huge improvement on Buckland and Coomes's showing in Vancouver four years ago, where they finished down in 20th position.

Following the final, Buckland told TeamGB.com: "It is good to know that you have come off the ice and have nothing left, you have given it all out there and that is what we wanted to do.

"No matter what the marks, the performance, whatever – we wanted to give everything we have had and we did that. I have loved it. I really enjoyed our first Games in Vancouver. It is such a crazy experience when you come to the Olympics.

"I didn't think it would be the same but I got exactly the same feeling – I was perhaps more excited this time."

Buckland and Coomes have strong hopes of representing Team GB in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
