Team GB speed skater Jack Whelbourne is hopeful of being fit to compete in the 500m and 1000m events at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
The 22-year-old became the first Briton to reach an Olympic 1500m short track final earlier this week, but he failed to finish after crashing out and injuring his ankle with two laps remaining.
Scans have since confirmed that no bones were broken, and Whelbourne is therefore positive about his chances of recovering in time for his next test - the 1,000m competition, which begins on Thursday.
"It's very sore but hopefully I'll be OK for the other two distances," the Nottingham skater told BBC Sport.
This is Whelbourne's second appearances at the Winter Games, having competed in Vancouver as a teenager four years ago.
