Pierre Thomas sidelined for two to three weeks

New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas suffers a shoulder injury and is expected to miss the next two to three weeks of action.

New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas has been ruled out of action for between two and three weeks with a shoulder injury.

Thomas left Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Detroit Lions early due to the issue and he now faces a spell on the sidelines, according to NFL.com.

The 29-year-old has just 30 carries for 133 yards so far this season, but he has also come away with 26 catches as the most targeted running back on the Saints roster.

New Orleans are 2-4 for the season so far and coach Sean Payton has conceded that he is concerned, with the Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals all to play in the coming weeks.
