Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has hit back at criticism of his side following their Super Bowl triumph over the Denver Broncos last night.

The Seahawks' defense was the cornerstone of their title-winning season and flourished on the big stage as they outplayed the Broncos' offense on their way to a 43-8 victory.

However, the Seattle offense also played a major role in the victory despite being labelled by Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter as "pedestrian" in the build-up to the match.

Baldwin refused to name Carter in his rebuttal, but the player-turned-analyst seemed to be the main subject of the Seahawks receiver's comments.

"For all of y'all that called us, the receiving corps, average, pedestrian, appetizers - I'm not going to say any names, but he knows who he is - I respect what you did on the field, but stick to football and stick to playing football because your analytical skills ain't up to par yet," Baldwin told reporters.

"You need to slow down and you need to go back and not do it half-ass and put some effort into it because you're saying some stuff that didn't really make sense."

Baldwin scored a fourth-quarter touchdown off a Russell Wilson pass to clinch the victory for his side and help them to their maiden Super Bowl success.
