Kyle Shanahan: 'Robert Griffin III fit and healthy'

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan says that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is healthy, despite speculation within the media regarding the player's fitness.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has insisted that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is fit and healthy, amid speculation that the player could be forcing himself to play through an injury.

Griffin underwent surgery to help repair his knee and has improved throughout the start of the season, although some sections of the media have stated that the player's lack of off-season training is beginning to show.

"Robert is definitely healthy. Not from my opinion of studying X-rays, but from guys who know more than just football - doctors. They say he's healthy and he looks healthy to me. I think it's just natural," Shanahan told the Washington Post.

"Anybody playing with a knee brace and coming off their first year on the ACL, he might not be quite as explosive, or quite as fast - just like anybody who's torn their ACL. But in terms of health, when the doctors say somebody's healthy, I definitely feel like he's healthy."

Griffin was the subject of some tough plays earlier this week, as his side were defeated by the San Fransico 49ers.
