Eilidh Child hails 'unbelievable' summer after European gold

Great Britain hurdler Eilidh Child hails her 'unbelievable' summer after adding to her Commonwealth silver with a European gold in the 400m hurdles.

Great Britain hurdler Eilidh Child has expressed her delight over her gold medal-winning display in the European Championships 400m hurdles event, while hailing the 'unbelievable' summer that she has had.

The 27-year-old from Perth saw off rivals Hanna Titimets and Irina Davydova to cross the finish line in a time of 54.48.

Child told BBC Sport: "If you'd told me the summer I was going to have I don't think I would have believed you.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have a gold medal. I knew if I got the race right, I'd be happy with the outcome. There are so many people I need to thank - everyone has been so great."

The Scottish athlete also won silver in front of a home crowd at the Commonwealth Games just a fortnight ago.
