Isobel Pooley over Beijing disappointment

Isobel Pooley says that she is over the disappointment of her failure to reach the final of the women's high jump at the World Athletics Championships.

Great Britain's Isobel Pooley has insisted that she will no longer dwell on her performance at the World Athletics Championships in August.

The 22-year-old had headed to Beijing in the expectation that she would at least reach the high jump final, but her best clearance of 1.89m was not enough to achieve that target.

However, with next year's Olympic Games in Rio on the horizon, Pooley has decided to use 2015 as a "learning" year.

"The fact that Rio is on everybody's radar has helped me get over Beijing much quicker because I had already branded this year as like a practice year and a year for learning and gaining experience," she told Athletics Weekly.

"Obviously you say that with a secret hope that it's all going to be fun experiences and positive learning but often bad days teach you more than good days. I had to endure a bad day on a big stage and that's difficult but I learnt a hell of a lot from it."

During the summer Pooley set a new outdoor national record when she cleared 1.97m at the British Championships in Birmingham.
