Shane Watson confident of playing in Ashes

Shane Watson says that he expects to recover from a hamstring injury in time for the first Ashes Test on November 21.

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has said that he is confident of being fit in time for the first Ashes Test against England in Brisbane.

The 32-year-old pulled his hamstring during a recent one-day international with India and has since returned home to rest ahead of November 21.

"It's not too bad, I've had a few niggles like this even over the last eight or nine months, so hopefully it won't be too bad at all or put me out for too long," he told reporters.

"My body's really adjusting to bowling, it's just an unfortunate little hiccup in the last game. It would've been nice to get home without any niggles.

"Being here it'll give me a week or two to be able to hopefully freshen up and ready to go for the first test."

Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson and Jackson Bird are all struggling for fitness ahead of The Ashes.
