Michael Clarke ready for England test

Michael Clarke says that he wants to prove a point in the forthcoming one-day series against England.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has stated that he is determined to prove a point against England in the forthcoming one-day international series.

The Baggy Greens lost their last ODI series on English soil 4-0 last summer.

They also lost the recent Ashes series 3-0, but Clarke has said that his side will be eager to impress in the shorter format of the game.

"I think we're ranked second in one-day cricket and in Test matches [fifth] so I think there's a big difference," Clarke told BT Sport.

"We've got a lot of young players coming through our one-day system, but in both forms of the game, we haven't been as consistent as we would like.

"I think in patches we've played really well, and generally at home in our conditions pretty well. But we need to perform when we're away from home, and our most recent trips to the UK have not been successful. Let's hope we can turn that around."

Clarke's men face England in the first ODI at Headingley on Friday.
