England seam-bowler Stuart Broad has told his teammates to remain fully focussed ahead of Friday's second Test against India at Trent Bridge.

Following their 196-run landslide win at Lord's, England stand to overtake opponents India to become top in the ICC rankings with a two-Test series win.

However, Broad has warned his side to maintain their focus as they still face three Tests against a dangerous India squad.

"We knew we wanted to start the series well," he told Sky Sports. "We had talked about it, particularly the first hour, so to come away from Lord's with victory is just the perfect start.

"We know it's only one Test out of four and that India are the best team in the world, so we need to be right on it at Trent Bridge.

"We've got great leaders of our group - people like Andy Flower and Andrew Strauss - and we will be very focused on that first hour at Trent Bridge."

The Nottinghamshire bowler played a central part in the series opener, with figures of 7-94.

"The great thing about Trent Bridge is that it's a really good cricket wicket, but you can lose the game inside the first hour because it can swing around," he added. "If you're 50-5, you're in a bit of trouble.

"The boys are hunting that number one slot and we need to be right on the money all of the time."

Both sides are currently monitoring the fitness of key Indian bowler Zaheer Khan, who suffered a hamstring injury during the first Test at Lord's.
