England give Ian Bell green light to compete in second Test against New Zealand

Ian Bell will be part of an England unchanged side for the second Test against New Zealand at Headingley starting this Friday.

Ian Bell has been passed fit to represent England in the second Test against New Zealand at Headingley.

There were doubts over whether the 31-year-old would play a part in the second Test after he was forced to compete in his side's second innings at Lord's while suffering from a fever.

Bell will join an England side unchanged from their victory over the Black Caps in the opening clash of the two-match series.

England National Selector Geoff Miller said: "We are aware that there are still areas that we need to improve on and the players and coaches will be working hard ahead of the second Test to ensure we continue to get better as a side.

"New Zealand showed again that they are a dangerous side and we know we will need to produce another strong performance this week to secure a series victory."

The second Test will begin on Friday.

England squad to face New Zealand:

Cook, Anderson, Bairstow, Bell, Bresnan, Broad, Compton, Finn, Prior, Root, Swann, Trott.
