England announce a 13-player squad for the first Test match with New Zealand, which is scheduled to start at Lord's on June 2.

England have handed recalls to Stuart Broad and James Anderson for the first Test match with New Zealand.

After the veteran pair were surprisingly dropped for the tour of West Indies, England subsequently lost the three-match series, contributing to Joe Root's resignation as captain.

Ben Stokes has since taken the reins and spoke up for the return of the two pacemen, who have now both been selected in a 13-player squad for the game at Lord's which starts on June 2.

There are also first call-ups for Yorkshire batsman Harry Brook and Durham bowler Matty Potts, the former having one T20 international to his name.

The remainder of the squad has a familiar look to it, with opener Alex Lees retaining his spot at the top of the order after featuring in all three games versus the West Indies.

Squad in full

Ben Stokes, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Craig Overton, Matthew Potts, Ollie Pope, Joe Root
