England captain Andrew Strauss has claimed that Kevin Pietersen had every right to retire from limited-overs cricket.
Pietersen announced last week that he would no longer be available for England in one-day internationals or Twenty20 matches but Strauss admits that he has no problem with the batsman following his trend by concentrating on Test cricket.
Strauss said: "I truly believe everyone has the right to determine whether they want to play a certain form of the game.
"Kevin has made that decision and we all respect it. He went into it with his eyes open, he knew what the situation was and what the ramifications were, and we're all just looking forward now."
England face the West Indies in the third Test at Edgbaston starting on Thursday morning.
