Aberdeen expect to appoint Derek McInnes next week

Aberdeen want to appoint Derek McInnes as successor to Craig Brown for the start of next season.

Aberdeen will reportedly confirm the appointment of Derek McInnes as their next manager at the beginning of next week.

The Dons have been searching for a new boss for the start of next season since Craig Brown confirmed he would retire at the end of the current campaign.

Initial interest in Derek Adams was met with a rejection from Ross County, leading to McInnes being linked with the post alongside former Scotland coach Craig Levein.

McInnes has been without a job since January after being sacked by Championship side Bristol City following a poor run of form over Christmas.

According to BBC Sport the two parties are currently in negotiations and could confirm the appointment of McInnes on Monday.
