AFC Wimbledon sign former Bournemouth striker Charlie Sheringham.

AFC Wimbledon have signed former Bournemouth striker Charlie Sheringham.

The 25-year-old, who is the son of former England striker Teddy Sheringham, was released by the Cherries at the end of last season after struggling with a foot injury during his time at Dean Court.

Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley believes that Sheringham can reignite his career with the League Two club.

"We watched Charlie last season when Jason Prior was at Dartford on loan and he was the best player at that level," Ardley told the club's official website.

"We have looked at the qualities that he has and the way that we want to play next season and Charlie fits into the mould.

"Charlie has scored a lot of goals at a lower level and I feel that he deserves a chance to prove that he can score goals in the Football League. I think he can certainly do that and he will do very well for us."

Sheringham scored one goal in six appearances for Bournemouth.
