Fabrizio Ravenelli: 'Ajaccio job fantastic opportunity'

Former Italy striker Fabrizio Ravanelli insists that taking charge of Ajaccio is a logical step in his aim of becoming a successful coach.

Former Juventus and Italy striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has insisted that taking charge of Ligue 1 minnows Ajaccio is the perfect way to launch a coaching career.

Ravanelli took up his first managerial post with Ajaccio during the close season, with the primary aim of maintaining the Corsican side's top-flight status.

Despite failing to win any of his four games in charge, the ex-Marseille marksman has declared that he will stay grounded and embrace whatever comes his way this season.

He told beIN Sport: "I don't really see why people are so surprised. As a coach, I'm still a nobody and I am extremely grateful to Ajaccio for giving me the chance to show my qualities as a coach and I want to prove myself in a very tough league.

"The French league is so strong and I know it's not going to be easy to succeed, especially for someone experiencing management for the first time. For me there is a lot to achieve this season but I've promised myself that I'll keep my head high, whether things go well or badly.

"The Ajaccio job is a fantastic opportunity. For me, this job feels the same as coaching Juventus, Real Madrid or Barcelona."

Ajaccio will look to end a run of three successive draws tomorrow night when they host Evian TG in their fifth game of the campaign.
