Ajax ease past FC Utrecht

Ajax stretch their unbeaten run to 12 games in the Eredivisie with a 3-1 win at home to Utrecht.

Ajax have tightened their grip at the top of the Eredivisie table with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to FC Utrecht.

The hosts opened the scoring on 16 minutes with a fierce long-range strike from Thulani Serero, while Davy Klaassen made it 2-0 four minutes later with his eighth goal of the season.

A spirited Utrecht managed to pull a goal back 10 minutes before the break as Rubio Rubin broke clear to slot calmly past Jasper Cillessen.

However, Ajax sealed the points with 25 minutes remaining when Anwar El Ghazi showed good feet on the edge of the box before firing into the bottom corner.
