Forfar Athletic record a comprehensive 4-2 victory over Ayr United in today's Scottish League One game at Station Park.

Forfar Athletic have recorded a comprehensive 4-2 victory over Ayr United in today's Scottish League One game at Station Park.

Jamie McCluskey opened the scoring for the Loons after just two minutes, before Dale Hilson doubled the home side's lead midway through the first half with an effort from outside the box.

Omar Kader then put his team three goals to the good with a strike not long after the restart, before Michael Moffat reduced the deficit from the spot on the hour for the away side.

However, there was to be no comeback for the Honest Men, as Hilson netted his second goal of the game, and his side's fourth, in the 73rd minute, even though Brian Gilmour struck a late consolation in injury time.

Arbroath went down 2-1 against Dunfermline Athletic, the away side drawing first blood in the 14th minute courtesy of Ryan Thomson.

Although the home side, struggling near the bottom of the league, equalised early in the second half through Michael Travis, the Pars struck late in the game to secure all three points, Andrew Geggan bundling the ball into the net from close range in the 79th minute.

East Fife lost 2-1 to Brechin City, the away side taking the lead through Andy Jackson midway through the first half, before Alan Trouten's late strike doubled his side's advantage.

Pat Clarke's header in injury time gave the relegation-threatened home side a consolation goal, but it was too late for the Fifers to try and get a second.

Stenhousemuir also recorded a home defeat, as they went down 2-1 against visiting Airdrieonians.

Scott Stewart broke the deadlock for the Diamonds in the 28th minute, before Craig Barr doubled his side's lead in the 63rd minute.

Even though the Warriors struck back a minute later through Sean Dickson, the away side held on for the win.

Earlier today, Rangers beat Stranraer 3-0 to go past the hundred-point mark in the league and finish the season unbeaten at home.
