Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger heaped praise upon Jack Wilshere following the midfielder's role in last night's 2-0 win over Montpellier HSC.

The 20-year-old, who missed the whole of last season with a series of knee injuries, scored his first goal since November 2010 in the match.

"He's getting strong physically," said Wenger. "Tonight he got in the box - he's the complete midfielder you know.

"I believe he can defend well, attack well and these kinds of matches will give him confidence."

The Gunners have now sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
