Raymond Verheijen: 'Something wrong with Arsenal's training methods'

Former Wales and Netherlands coach Raymond Verheijen questions Arsenal's training methods after Aaron Ramsey picked up a hamstring injury.

Former Wales and Netherlands assistant coach Raymond Verheijen has claimed that 'something is wrong' with Arsenal's training methods following Aaron Ramsey's latest injury blow.

The midfielder is likely to be out for a month after suffering a hamstring injury during the Gunners' 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Wenger has suggested that Wales are at fault for Ramsey's injury as he played 90 minutes of the nation's Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra last week, but Verheijen has questioned the Gunners' methods.

"There are six or seven players at Arsenal who are consistently injured for weeks or months every season," Verheijen told BBC Wales Sport. "It tells you something is going wrong at Arsenal in terms of over-training these young players. As a result, their bodies are breaking down."

Overall, Ramsey spent 11 weeks on the treatment table last season with hamstring problems.
