Arsenal investors slam Stan Kroenke over Robin van Persie

Arsenal's second biggest shareholders write to owner Stan Kroenke with concerns over the way he is running the club.

Arsenal investors Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri have written to owner Stan Kroenke with concerns over the direction of the club following Robin van Persie's revelation that he will not sign a new contract.

The duo are the club's second biggest shareholders but have not been allowed on the board by Kroenke, leading them to make their "deep reservations" public.

Arsenal have been criticised in recent years for being unable to hold on to their best players, a point exacerbated by the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively last season.

Now, Usmanov and Moshiri have slammed Kroenke over his "tight" financial policy, which forces manager Arsene Wenger into "selling his best players and having to continue to find cheaper replacements".

The pair go on to say that "we are faced with losing our true marquee player" because we cannot "give confidence that we can win trophies," asking "where are the safeguards to ensure that this doesn't happen again and again?"

Usmanov and Moshiri own almost 30% of the club through investment company Red & White.
