Mikel Arteta says that "three or four" of Arsenal's youth players will break into the first team.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is confident that a number of the club's youth players will fight their way into the first team in the future.

The North London outfit have been criticised over the course of the season for inconsistent results, which have prompted calls for manager Arsene Wenger to spend in the summer.

While the club have been known to sell their prized assets in recent years, Arteta believes that the Premier League outfit's youth stars will prove vital for the future.

"We've got some good players coming up," Arteta told the club's official website. "I don't want to say any names because you underestimate the others maybe. In my head, there are three or four players that will become very important players for this club."

Meanwhile, the Gunners youngsters are due up against CSKA Moscow in the quarter-finals of the NextGen Series on Monday.
