Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas receives an apology and a retraction over comments he allegedly made about former club Arsenal.

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he has received an apology from Sport magazine over an article that was published earlier this month.

The weekly publication had ran an interview in which Fabregas was quoted as saying it was "hard to see" his former club Arsenal winning either the Premier League or Champions League "in the near future".

The 24-year-old has insisted that he never made those comments and Sport has now offered to retract the story.

"Got the apology and retraction from that magazine that made up an interview about me," he said on Twitter. "Can’t believe some journalists.

"I will also get damages that I will give to charity. Hope it teaches them a lesson. I would NEVER say a bad word about Arsenal Football Club."

Fabregas left the Emirates Stadium during the summer to rejoin his boyhood club.
