Alex Ferguson: 'Arsenal will struggle to replace Arsene Wenger'

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson questions those Arsenal supporters who want to see long-serving boss Arsene Wenger leave the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Arsenal supporters who want Arsene Wenger to leave the club to be careful what they wish for.

The Frenchman has come under fire in recent weeks following a run of three defeats in five games.

Not for the first time during his 19-year reign, Wenger has had to contend with serious questions over his future in North London, but Ferguson believes that ousting the experienced boss may cause more harm than good.

"Arsene has taken a lot of flak," he told The Guardian. "But who is going to replace him? Who is going to make it better? It is a very difficult position for anyone who comes in after Arsene and has to change the philosophy he introduced, and kept, for all those years."

Arsenal find themselves five points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City after playing one game less than the Citizens.
