FIFA deny Arsenal use of goal-line technology at Emirates Cup.

FIFA have told Arsenal that they will not be allowed to experiment with goal-line technology at the Emirates Cup.

Football's world governing body have been reluctant to trial such a system despite increasing calls for its introduction.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been among those supporting the introduction of match official aids after a number of high-profile wrong decisions, including Frank Lampard's ghost goal in the 2010 World Cup quarter-final against Germany.

Wenger felt the summer pre-season tournament, held this weekend, would be an excellent platform to trial the technology.

"If out of 100 decisions they get 95 right instead of 85, you have to use technology," he said. "And I would like to use it for more than goal-line decisions, but it's a first step."

However, FIFA are thought to have accepted the fact that technology will play a part in the future of football and it may be present at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"The good news is they are open to it and it looks like in the next World Cup we will have it," Wenger added.

Paris Saint-Germain, Boca Juniors and New York Red Bulls feature alongside the Gunners at the tournament.
