Thierry Henry: Olivier Giroud not good enough, Arsenal need "top, top quality"

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says that Olivier Giroud is not the answer if his former club want to win Premier League titles again.

Thierry Henry has said that former club Arsenal need to splash the cash on a "top, top-quality striker" this summer in order to win the Premier League next season.

The Gunners remain 10 points adrift of champions elect Chelsea after being held to a 0-0 draw by the Blues at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

Wenger conceded that Arsenal had virtually no chance of catching their London rivals, with only 15 points left on offer, and Henry says changes in personnel are paramount to their chances next term.

Olivier Giroud has netted 14 times in 17 Premier League starts since returning from injury in November, but the club's all-time record goalscorer says that he is not the man to fire the club to glory.

"Arsenal need to buy four players, they need that spine," the Frenchman, who scored 228 goals for the club, told Sky Sports News.

"They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre-back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I'm afraid, they need a top, top-quality striker in order to win this league again.

"The best example for me today was Chelsea. They struggled last year and they were still competing to win the league. They now have [Thibaut] Courtois, [Nemanja] Matic, Cesc [Fabregas] and Diego Costa. For me that speaks volumes, and we saw it today. A team didn't and a team did, and Chelsea are about to win the league."

Giroud, who cost £12m from Montpellier in 2012, has 57 goals for Arsenal in all competitions.
