Arsene Wenger: 'Chelsea are champions'

Arsene Wenger concedes that Chelsea effectively won the Premier League title with their hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Arsenal.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has conceded that it is virtually impossible for his side to catch Chelsea in the Premier League title race following the 0-0 draw this afternoon.

The Blues produced yet another resolute defensive performance at the Emirates as Jose Mourinho's side frustrated the Gunners to move within five points of the title.

Wenger's charges, level on points with second-placed Manchester City, sit 10 behind the leaders with another 15 on offer, and the Frenchman concedes that it is now a bridge too far.

"We know Chelsea will be champions," he told Sky Sports News. "A win for us today was absolutely necessary, so it's impossible for Chelsea to lose it now.

"Chelsea are a good side because they defend very well. In the recent games they haven't conceded and today they defended very well."

Arsenal travel away to Hull City next Monday.
