Hill-Wood calm over Van Persie delay

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood admits that Robin van Persie is unwilling to begin contract negotiations but insists that he is not worried.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has insisted that he is unconcerned that Robin van Persie has put off signing a new deal at the Emirates.

The Dutch striker has delayed contract negotiations with the North London club, insisting that there is no rush since he still has 18 months left on his current deal.

"He doesn't want to talk about it at the moment and we are not troubling him," the Daily Star quotes Hill-Wood as saying.

"I think we will approach him near the end of the season. But we obviously hope that he will sign a new contract - I don't see why he should not.

"I can't believe he is unhappy with us."

The 28-year-old's refusal to begin talks over extending his stay with the Gunners, has prompted speculation that the frontman may seek a move away from the club.
