Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul says that the incident between himself and Robin van Persie will "stay on the pitch".

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has refused to shed light on what went on between himself and Arsenal captain Robin van Persie during their altercation at the Emirates on Monday.

The Dutch duo got into a war of words during the Gunners' last-gasp 2-1 win over the Magpies earlier this week.

"I was disappointed with the incident involving Robin," Krul told the club's official website. "We are both professional sportsmen and what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.

"We are playing in arguably the best and toughest league in the world and things like this happen. There is only one thing on my mind during a game and that is to win."

Meanwhile, Krul's teammate Jonas Gutierrez has expressed his anger at Van Persie for his conduct in the final minutes of the Premier League clash.
