Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi: 'We changed a bit after team meeting'

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi says that the players held a team meeting to help turn around their form.

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has claimed that the team managed to bring some positivity back following a group meeting.

The Gunners had a dismal spell when they suffered three straight Premier League defeats and were beaten by Manchester City in the EFL Cup final.

In recent weeks, though, results have been more promising as they eased into the quarter-finals of the Europa League and picked up a 3-0 victory over Watford.

"Everyone knew it was a difficult period," the Evening Standard quotes Mustafi as saying. "The meeting was about trying to listen to different opinions, different ideas and different feelings, and I think we found a way to try to change a bit.

"It's not that easy because one meeting is not going to change a lot, especially not during the season when you're playing every three days, but it was important to speak our opinions out loud. Overall it was about giving 110% to try to get out of it, and I think we managed it well."

Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 13 points adrift of the top four.
