David Ospina not giving up number one shirt

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina warns rival Wojciech Szczesny that he refuses to give up the number one shirt without a fight.

David Ospina has warned Arsenal teammate Wojciech Szczesny that he faces a fight to displace him as the Gunners' number one goalkeeper.

The Poland international appears to have fallen behind his Colombian counterpart in the pecking order, with Ospina starting the last three Premier League games.

Szczesny has not made a league appearance since being caught smoking in the showers at St Mary's after a 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day.

Manager Arsene Wenger recently said that Szczesny remains his number one, but Ospina is determined to make the most of his prolonged spell in the first XI.

"I see it as a big responsibility to come to a great club like Arsenal," he told the club's official website. "It is a dream come true, now it is my job to make the most of this opportunity that has come my way.

"I always watched the Premier League when I was in Colombia because that was one of the leagues they showed on television.

"At Arsenal we have very good goalkeepers in the shape of Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez. The Premier League has always had top-quality goalkeepers."

Arsenal face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
