Petr Cech: 'Facing Chelsea will be strange'

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech admits that it will be "very strange" to play against his former club Chelsea next season.

New Arsenal signing Petr Cech has admitted that it will be a "strange feeling" for him to play against former club Chelsea.

The 33-year-old completed his move to the Gunners earlier today, following 11 years at the Blues.

Cech's first competitive game for Arsenal could be against Chelsea in the Community Shield at the beginning of August, and the keeper has said that he is looking forward to playing against his old teammates.

"I think the script couldn't have been written in a better way for the fans because this will be one of the days [that is] very exciting and very strange at the same time," he told Arsenal's official website.

"I have to say, having been with Chelsea for 11 years and having so much success and great memories, I guess it will be a very strange feeling to be on the other side.

"Once you're on the pitch, you play for your team and you want to win. During the year you can play against friends, you can play against big friends and close friends but once you are on the pitch, this friendship goes away and you just focus on winning the game."

Cech made 486 appearances for Chelsea, helping the Blues to win four Premier League titles.
