Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Andre Villas-Boas should have been given more time at Chelsea.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has offered his sympathy to Andre Villas-Boas.

The Portuguese coach was fired as boss of Chelsea yesterday afternoon following a poor run of form.

However, Wenger is adamant that the 34-year-old was not given enough time by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

"I feel sorry for Andre Villas-Boas because I know him and I like him as manager and as a man," Wenger told reporters.

"I'm sorry that he was not given enough time to do his job. When you're not given time you have no chance."

Wenger was speaking ahead of side's Champions League clash with AC Milan tomorrow evening.
