Arsene Wenger: "I have a vision"

Arsene Wenger says he plans to make Arsenal "the best club in the world".

Arsene Wenger has said that he is focused on making Arsenal "the best club in the world".

The Gunners have endured a tough start to the season, after a number of high-profile departures and a subsequent poor run of form that has left them 13th in the table with just seven points from six games.

Some fans have called on Wenger, who has managed the side since 1996, to quit, but the board have given the Frenchman their full backing.

"I had a vision. I still have a vision. The vision is to make this club the best club in the world. It's as simple as that," Wenger told reporters this morning.

"I hate to look back. I want to use the history to improve. I always look forward to what I could achieve in front of me."

He added: "I've been very lucky to spend 15 years at this club. But I live for the future. 15 years on it is the same for me. I try to do well."

Arsenal next face Spurs in the North London derby on Sunday.
