Arsene Wenger plays down Jose Mourinho touchline spat

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger plays down his touchline row with Jose Mourinho after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Chelsea.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has played down his touchline spat with Jose Mourinho that happened during his side's defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The Frenchman squared up to his counterpart in the technical area at Stamford Bridge to complain about a tackle from Gary Cahill on Alexis Sanchez in the first half.

However, Wenger believes that the confrontation between the pair should not be focused on.

"I went out of my technical area because I wasn't happy with the challenge and I wanted to see what happened. Someone stood in front of me and that was it. I say absolutely nothing else on that," he told BBC Sport.

"Jose says we should have finished with eight men and I return that compliment. I don't know how Gary Cahill finished the game. I don't know how Branislav Ivanovic finished the game. I don't know how Oscar finished the game."

Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scored the goals for Chelsea as they moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
